Welcome to WiSI!
We are excited to introduce our organization to the broader Brandeis STEM community! Check out our campus groups page for details on our organization and to find upcoming events during the Fall & Spring semesters. For new members interested in receiving email reminders about these events, please fill out our Google Form.
What is WiSI?
The Brandeis Women in Science Initiative (WiSI) is a community of graduate students, postdocs, staff, and faculty from every STEM department on campus who are committed to fostering the success of women and other historically excluded genders in STEM. Our goal is for people of all genders to be respected, supported, and recognized for their achievements in STEM.
Things To Know:
- We use Slack for internal communications. Keep up with events by joining our workspace: brandeiswisi.slack.com. Slack can be installed as a Phone app (functions just like Twitter, Facebook etc) and allows you to customize how you get notifications.
- We have a public Google Calendar of our events. Integrate WiSI’s calendar with your own to keep track of our events: WiSI Events
- We use Twitter to share information relevant to our organizations ideals and to promote WiSI and Boston-area events. If you hear of news/events that are relevant to historically excluded genders in STEM (e.g. rights, equality, representation in science) please post a link to the event in the "#local_events" channel on Slack. WiSI admins will share/promote them on Twitter. Check out our Twitter account: @brandeiswisi!
This group is all about supporting all genders in STEM. We are always accepting new members; grad students, postdocs, staff, and faculty of ANY gender are welcome to participate in WiSI. Please spread the word to anyone you think may be interested in our community!
Hope to see you all this academic year!
